Donald M. Koll's first visit to Los Cabos, Mexico was in 1968, and from the start he fell in love with the natural beauty and idyllic setting of the Palmilla Hotel created by Abelardo Rodriguez in 1956. By 1986, Don Koll made himself the owner of that hotel, along with its surrounding land, and began his quest to create a master planned resort community, second to none.

In 1991, with John Solis at the helm, Mr. Koll's vision materialized into a 990 acre master planned resort development featuring Jack Nicklaus' Signature 27 holes that captivated the attention of all, and marked Jack's first foray south of the border. Mr. Solis guided the development of Palmilla from its inception and was responsible for articulating Koll's vision for the development and personally supervised every step of its creation to ensure that all of its elements lived up to their promise.

Abelardo Rodriguez's quaint Palmilla Hotel has been totally renovated and expanded to become an internationally acclaimed five star experience under its current joint ownership of Goldman Sacks and Kerzner Resorts International.

Koll's vision became a reality and today can claim it houses the most elegant, exclusive and expensive estate homes in the Los Cabos area among its 1,300 single family residential units, with "La Caleta" commonly referred to as "Beverly Hills South".
